ELITE ART GALLERY invites you to take part in the inauguration of the COLOURS OF FEMININITY exhibition, scheduled for Tuesday, the 9th of September 2008, 11 hrs, on its premises, i.e. 134 Constantin Noica St. (previously named Stefan Furtuna St.), Bucharest, intercom no.: 1.
THE COLOURS OF FEMININITY is organized by ELITE ART GALLERY, as of the 9th of September, and includes painting and graphic design works belonging to the following artists: Vitalie BUTESCU, Ion DRAGHICI, Ana Ruxandra ILFOVEANU, Corneliu IONESCU, George MIRCEA, Marilena MURARIU, Virgil PARGHEL, Mihai SARBULESCU and Mariana VESA. The exhibition aims to promote an alternative image of physical beauty, captured by art.
Nowadays, feminine beauty has come to be a product of the advertising imagery. The natural presence of the faces that surround us, seen from the angle of sensitivity and subjectivity has remained an object of contemplation confined to the artist’s studio. The access of wide audiences is directed towards commercial images, which are digitally processed and improved.
THE COLOURS OF FEMININITY exhibition is meant to be an alternative to the portrayal of woman in today’s visual context. The exhibition deals with themes such as: portrait, nude and other artistic displays through which beauty comes across as a mark of the woman’s face, body and personality. The exhibits are selected from the studios of both established and young artists who chose these themes prompted by an inner need, not by the requirements of advertising and commercial trends.
