The 15th of May 2008
ELITE ART GALLERY at EUROP’ART
From April 30 to May 4 2008 ELITE ART GALLERY took part in EUROP’ART”, the International Art Fair based in Geneva. EUROP’ART is one of the most important international artistic events dedicated to fine and visual arts. By now at its 17th edition, the International Art Fair of Geneva has reached an outstanding development, its motto being “L’art en toute liberté” and succeeded in presenting the audiences with exhibitors such as galleries and artists from more than 30 countries, this being in itself an impressive figure.
The 17th edition was particularly noteworthy as it gathered three of the most known art galleries in South Korea, i.e. Gallery Ho, Gallery Han and Gallery Jung, which were the guest starts of the fair. The massive presence of Korean art, one of the liveliest spaces of contemporary art added a special exotic and innovative touch to the event.
Also, under the aegis “Who’s Who International”, a large number of independent artists could exhibit their works in their own stands and thus benefited from the unique opportunity to internationally promote their achievement. Other sections of the event focused on presenting countries which are less known to the audiences interested in art, museums upholding non-conventional curatorial approaches, engraving and collage studios of their own kind, art magazines and publications etc. providing a wide audience with an overview of the entire field of art-related activities.
The participation of ELITE ART GALLERY in EUROP’ART marks the first official Romanian presence at this level and can be seen as first step of a strategy developed by the gallery to internationally promote Romanian contemporary art. A significant institutional and financial effort was required in order to exhibit within EUROP’ART, considering that the stand had its own catalogue and multimedia facilities displaying Romanian art and the website of the gallery, www.eliteart-gallery.com. The ten Romanian painters presented at the stand are, in alphabetical order: Alexandru ANDRONACHE, Vitalie BUTESCU, Simion CRACIUN, Ion DRAGHICI, Ion LAZAR, George MIRCEA, Marilena MURARIU, Virgil PARGHEL, Mihai SARBULESCU and Veaceslav TUHARI. The Romanian artworks were exhibited against a background of complete diversity and caught the eye of Swiss and international audience for having expressed colour and fullness of the form in a specific Romanian way.
In addition to having projected a positive image of Romania and the Romanian art, amongst the benefits stemming from the participation of ELITE ART GALERY in EUROP’ART one must note the interest expressed by various art galleries of EU member states in Romanian artists. Several ties were established, with the aim of implementing events to promote Romanian artists within the European art world.
As a result of this experience with EUROP’ART, ELITE ART GALLERY organized on return a mirroring exhibition hosted by the Fine Arts Gallery of the National Palace of the Army, with a broader presentation of its participation in the International Fair. The exhibition remains open during 15-29 May 2008 and art amateurs are expected to join the round table scheduled on Wednesday, the 21st of May 2008 at 18 hrs.
