ELITE ART announces the official opening of ELITE ART GALLERY, a new art gallery on the Romanian art market. ELITE ART GALLERY is a private gallery established in an unconventional, intimate and hospitable setting and is the fruit of a series of art exhibitions, camps and art publishing that the association ELITE ART has been dealing with over the past five years.
ELITE ART GALLERY is a modern institution working in the field of fine arts and aiming to approach both the cultural milieu and the business community. It organizes art exhibitions on its own premises, as well as within other institutions or corporate events; it equally provides a wide range of services in the field of fine arts, covering consultation (purchase, framing, assessment, certification), leasing of art works, know-how and production (organizing events of artistic nature, publishing print materials), artist management etc.
The exhibition marking the opening of ELITE ART GALLERY is named “Elder Masters of Romanian Contemporary Painting” and displays the works of ten Romanian contemporary artists born before 1930: Traian Bradean, Corneliu Braescu, Eva Cerbu, Maria Constantin, Cornelia Danet Demetrescu, Madi Dinu, Yvonne Hassan, Ion Pana, Alma Redlinger and Sanda Saramat. By means of their themes, techniques and artistic solutions chosen the paintings on display are actually building a bridge to the great inter-war art. Besides, these featured artists served an apprenticeship to great inter-war painters: Ressu, Steriadi, Maxy, Ciucurencu, Catul Bogdan, Schweitzer-Cumpana, etc.
The exhibition remained open to the public on the 1st and 2nd of March 2008, as a March gift. The official opening was attended by five of the artists whose works were exhibited: Traian Bradean, Yvonne Hasan, Madi Dinu, Alma Redlinger and Sanda Saramat. The event was presented by Ms. Mihaela Dragomir, president of ELITE ART and Ms. Luiza Barcan, the curator of the exhibition; herself a member of the old guard, Ms. Margareta (Madi) Dinu - who will turn a century in 2008 - spoke on behalf of her fellow- artists.
